Before the Event
Race kit pick-up
Race kits will be available for pick-up on October 1 and 2 from 11:30am – 1:30pm and 4:00pm – 7:00pm in the Jean Talon Conference Room, located in the lobby of the Jean Talon Building, 170 Tunney’s Pasture Driveway Ottawa, ON K1A 0T6. Departmental Team Captains will be picking up kits for Government Employees working in certain Departments, please check with your Captain to be sure. Everyone else will pick up their own individual kits. You may ask someone to pick up your kit for you, please e-mail email@example.com if you plan to have someone else pick up on your behalf. Any kits which are not picked up at these times will be available beginning at 10:30am the morning of the event at the Info Booth. There is no guarantee you will receive your kit in time for the race if you choose to pick it up at that time. Your kit includes your bib number, t-shirt, timing chip (for 5k event only) and lots of goodies from our sponsors. Pins for your bib number will be available, please remember to take them when you pick up your kit.
This Year’s Wellness Challenge supports Mental Health
We want to make this the most successful year ever for the charities our event supports! We’re asking participants to get their friends and families involved by asking them to sponsor their participation in the 5km run or 3km walk. Participants can fundraise as an individual, or create a team and make the challenge even more fun. Teams can get creative and show off their team spirit while they walk or run.
What’s in it for you?
On top of supporting a great cause, every person who raises funds will be entered into a draw for great prizes!1 There will be grand prize packs for the top fundraising individual and the top fundraising team.2

Ask your family, friends and neighbours to support your participation in the event.
Can donors request a charitable tax receipt?
Yes, anyone who donates $20 or more can request a receipt from United Way.
How can my friends and family donate?
Your supporters can now sponsor your efforts through the online registration page. This year’s event will support Mental Health initiatives through United Way, Centraide Outaouais, and Health Partners. Create your personal page to tell people why you are raising money. Team Work Makes the Dream Work
Join forces with your colleagues and friends in this year’s event and have fun fundraising together! Show your team spirit by choosing a theme and dressing alike, run or walking together and encouraging each other along the way. Any group of people can become a team; you do not need to work together. Just choose a team captain and have that person create the team on the online registration page. Once a team is created, give your teammates the password to join your team. There is no limit to the number of people on a team. You can join a team at any time, even if the team is created after you sign up as an individual. The top fundraising team will receive a grand prize pack.
On Event Day
Please gather on the median of Tunney’s Pasture Driveway North of Scott Street. Arrive early enough to park (or better yet: walk, ride or take public transit to the event – secure bike parking available!), get to the gathering area, check your gear, and stop by the sponsor booths before the start of the event.
Plan to stay
Announcements and prizes will take place beginning at 12:30pm after the 5k run and 3k walk. The full schedule is available on the registration site and on the website. Plan to stay until 1:30pm. This will give you enough time to claim your prize, visit the sponsor booths, have lunch from one of our onsite food trucks, collect your belongings from Gear Check and get your Bike out of the Secure Bike Parking.
Parking for cars and bikes
There is limited pay parking available for the event. Take advantage of our new secure bicycle parking, provided on a first come, first served basis by VeloFix, and avoid Transitway construction.
The Secure Gear Check tent will be located near the Secure Bike Parking and Portable Toilets. Your gear will be tagged with the tear off strip from your bib. Do not give your gear to any volunteer except those at the Gear Check Tent. The service will be available from 10:30am until 1:30pm. Any unclaimed items will be kept by the Wellness Challenge for 2 weeks and then will be donated to charity. The Wellness Challenge is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
If you want to have a photo taken of your team, please meet with the photographers on the steps of the Jean Talon building prior to the race to schedule your timeslot.
Support on the course
The route will be fully supported by route marshals to keep you on course, as well as police officers, a network of radio operators, First Aid support and dozens of enthusiastic volunteers.
It’s Walk and Roll Baby!
Strollers are welcome on the course; please remember to be courteous to other participants. Line up towards the back of the pack, and keep to the right. Wheelchairs and hand cycles are also welcomed with an early start time for the 5k run. No other wheeled transportation such as bikes, rollerblades, skateboard or wheeled shoes will be permitted on the course.
Participants will be provided with post-race water and snacks immediately after the run and walk. Before, during and after the event several food vendors will be on-site selling a variety of lunch options for participants and spectators alike! A portion of food sales will be donated to charity.
Prizes, Prizes, Prizes!
Once again there are spectacular prizes for the top three fastest runners in the men’s and women’s categories provided by Bushtukah. Are you walking or running for fun? Don’t worry; there are more great prizes to be won. All participants who fundraise for the event will be entered into a draw to win one of many amazing prizes.2 The top fundraising individual and team will win a grand prize pack. You must be at the award ceremony to claim your prize.
